Founded
in 1996, Interlink Software is an Independent Software Vendor (ISV) fully owned
by its founders and employees and self-finances its growth with the proceeds from
its operations.
In the late 1990's Interlink Software pioneered the approach
of incorporating a Configuration Management Database (CMDB) into our product design,
implementing a low maintenance, process driven approach to delivering Business
Service Management (BSM) and Service Configuration Management (SCM).
What
is BSM?
According to Gartner ("Business Service Management: Lessons
Learned," 30 July 2003, Debra Curtis and Donna Scott),
"IS organizations
are increasingly being pressured by business units to support end-to-end service-level
agreements and provide a business-oriented display of how well IT services are
performing in support of critical business processes. In addition, IS organizations
are searching for effective ways to demonstrate their alignment with the business
and manage their support priorities in a business context. To accomplish this,
you need tools that document and correlate IT components to business services,
thus enabling more-productive communication between the IS organization that delivers
the services and the business users who consume them. The generic industry term
for tools offering this functionality is business service management (BSM)".
